The
Panchachuli women weavers use sheep and merino wool in addition
to pashmina and silk. They are fine imported white lamb’s
wool, with dyes organically extracted from local plants.
These wools are also spun, woven and knitted by hand.
Kasardevi
The Kasardevi collection is named after the Kasaredevi Temple,
which is one of the most important temples in the region
of the women weavers. This collection is comprised of fine
Lambswool, which is millspun and purchased on hanks for
dyeing with vegetable dyes. These dyes are created from
the roots, flowers, bark and leaves of indigenous plants
that are collected, then dried and stored. The dyed yarn
is then handwoven. All the colors in the natural dye palette
are local except for indigo, which comes from South India.
There will always be a slight variation in the shades as
this depends on many factors including climate, rainfall,
and other local weather conditions which affect the colors
extracted from the plants. Color fastness is guaranteed.
Shawls, stoles, scarves and throws are available in this
collection.
